Alcohol-Free for Me, Please
It’s a good idea to plan ahead for social events. Before you go, find out if the venue serves alcohol-free drinks. If not, you could bring your own, or you may choose to have a soft drink instead.
There will be times when you feel you have to justify your reason for not drinking. When you are in a situation where other people are drinking and you’re not drinking—be prepared for the questions.
In some situations, some people may be genuinely interested in hearing why you‘re not drinking alcohol, and they are full of praise for your decision. And others don’t bother asking because they know it’s none of their business.
But for some who know you and notice you‘re not drinking and find it unusual for you not to have a drink, they may come away with snide remarks.
Why Are You Not Drinking?
Sometimes it’s good to have a few answers ready for the most asked question.
- “I’m here for the company, not the alcohol”
- “It’s good to be present, I remember things the next day”
- “I find hangovers boring”
- “Keep your eyes on your glass, not mine”
- “I enjoy myself without alcohol”
- “I’m happier without alcohol”
- “No thanks… I’m done with alcohol”
You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
Your decision to stop drinking is exactly that – Your decision.
Your decision
And remember…
You’re the one who will wake up feeling fresh and proud of yourself, with no regrets.
