Welcome
I am a peer mentor who uses my own lived experience of overcoming alcohol dependence to, provide encouragement and support individuals who want to achieve and maintain an alcohol-free life.
If you were anything like me, you may be feeling sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
Every morning, I woke up with a sense of dread. Questions would race through my mind:
- What did I do?
- What did I say?
- Who did I upset?
I was filled with anxiety, self-loathing, and regret—again, for what felt like the hundredth time.
At my worst, I was drinking around a bottle and a half of wine every day, and often more on weekends. I knew alcohol was becoming a problem. It was constantly on my mind, taking over my life, stealing my happiness, damaging my relationships, and slowly destroying me.
If you are in a similar situation right now, I want you to know two things:
1)You are not alone.
2)You don’t have to feel this way anymore.
Today, I am almost 14 months alcohol-free.
I am living a life that I once believed was impossible. What I’ve discovered during this journey is that living alcohol-free isn’t about missing out—it’s about gaining so much more.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that I don’t need alcohol to enjoy life or to be myself.
I know many people struggle to imagine social situations without alcohol. I felt exactly the same not long ago.
I used to wonder how I could sit in a room full of people getting more drunk by the hour—repeating themselves, slurring their words, and talking crap—while I sat there with a glass of 0.0% prosecco.
Now I see it differently
I call it Empowerment.
And with time, it starts to come naturally.
